CloudSync is a file storage and synchronization service, and we take the security and privacy of your files with the utmost seriousness.
2. Our Privacy Commitment
CloudSync is built on a zero-knowledge encryption architecture. This means:
- Your files are encrypted on your device before being uploaded to our servers.
- Only you hold the encryption keys to decrypt your files.
- Our servers store encrypted data that we cannot read, access, or decrypt.
- Even in the event of a server breach, your files remain protected by encryption.
3. Information We Collect
3.1 Account Information
- Registration Data: Email address and display name required to create and authenticate your CloudSync account.
- Authentication Tokens: Secure tokens used to verify your identity without transmitting your password.
3.2 File Metadata
- File Names and Structure: We store encrypted file names and folder structures to enable synchronization and file management across your devices.
- File Size and Type: Used to manage storage quotas and optimize synchronization performance.
- Timestamps: Creation and modification dates are stored to support version history and conflict resolution.
Important: The actual content of your files is encrypted and inaccessible to us.
3.3 Automatically Collected Information
- Device Information: Device model, operating system version, and application version for compatibility and troubleshooting.
- Synchronization Logs: Technical logs of sync operations (timestamps, file sizes, success/failure status) to diagnose synchronization issues. These logs do not contain file content.
- Usage Analytics: Anonymized, aggregated statistics about feature usage to improve the application.
4. How We Use Your Information
- To provide cloud storage and file synchronization services.
- To authenticate your identity and secure your account.
- To manage storage quotas and enforce service limits.
- To diagnose and resolve synchronization issues.
- To improve application performance based on anonymized usage data.
- To send essential service notifications (storage warnings, security alerts, policy updates).
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information or file data with third parties except:
- Infrastructure Providers: We use reputable cloud infrastructure providers to host encrypted file data. These providers store encrypted blobs and cannot access your file content.
- Legal Obligations: We may disclose account information (not file content, which we cannot decrypt) if legally required.
6. Shared Files
When you share files or folders with others using CloudSync:
- You control who has access and what permissions they have (view, download, edit).
- You can revoke shared access at any time.
- Recipients who access files through shared links may be logged for security auditing purposes.
7. Data Retention
- Active Accounts: Your encrypted files are retained as long as your account is active.
- Deleted Files: When you delete a file, it is moved to a recovery bin for 30 days, after which it is permanently deleted from our servers.
- Account Deletion: Upon account deletion, all associated encrypted data is permanently removed within 30 days.
- Version History: Previous file versions are retained for 90 days (or as specified by your plan), after which they are automatically purged.
8. Security Measures
- End-to-end encryption (AES-256) for all file content.
- TLS encryption for all data in transit.
- Regular security audits and penetration testing.
- Multi-factor authentication support.
- Isolated storage infrastructure with redundant backups.
9. Children's Privacy
CloudSync is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you become aware that a child has created an account, please contact us immediately.
10. Your Rights
- Access and download all your stored files at any time.
- Request a copy of your account information.
- Delete your account and all associated data.
- Revoke shared file access.
- Export your data in standard file formats.
11. Changes to This Policy
We will notify you of material changes to this policy via email and/or in-app notification. Your continued use of CloudSync after changes are communicated constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
